On Sunday we looked at the final 5 Psalms from the book of Psalms and studied their clear call for all of God's people to join together in praising Him.

  1. Psalm 147:1 says "it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting." Can you recall a time when giving praise to God was exactly what was needed in the moment?  Perhaps it was a song or a poem.  It could have been during a time of sorrow, joy, correction.  How has God used praising Him to be "good/pleasant" and "fitting" for you?
  2. We spoke on Sunday about the fact that one of the clearest ways that we can offer praise to God is by living a life of reliance on him and "hope in his steadfast love" (147:11).  Can you think of someone you have encountered whose life has been such a demonstration of praise?
  3. What has been your favorite part about this study of Psalms?  What have you learned?  What will stick with you?

Psalm 127 is the center of the Psalms of Ascents. There are 7 psalms before and 7 after. "The LORD" (YAHWEH) is mentioned 24 times before chapter 127 and 24 times after...there are lots of fun little trivia facts. Psalm 127 was written by Solomon. It reads like some of his Proverbs.

Adopt one of the concepts from Psalm 127 (building a city, children, not being anxious...) and be prepared to share with the group what other parts of Scripture have to say about it.
