1 Peter 5:8-9

  1. Read Genesis 4:3-7.  What light does this passage shed on our reading for the evening.
  2. In the Screwtape Letters (by C.S. Lewis) a veteran demon gives advice to a young demon about how to thwart Christians. At one point the veteran demon says, "Be not deceived, Wormwood, our cause is never more in jeopardy than when a human, no longer desiring but still intending to do our Enemy's will, looks round upon a universe in which every trace of Him seems to have vanished, and asks why he has been forsaken, and still obeys."
    • Give a Biblical example of obedience like this.
    • Why is the phrase "firm in your faith" (v.9) so crucial to this truth?
  3. Why does Paul explain that believers world-wide are suffering?
