Topics for 08/25

Please read the passage and be prepared to discuss at east one of the topics.

1 Peter 1:8-12

 

1. How can joy be filled with glory?

2. What examples are there of prophets seeking an answer as opposed to just receiving a message?

a. Was seeking an answer normally blessed by God with an answer?

3. Can you name an example where a prophet seemed to know that he was part of something bigger--that his essage was for future believers?

4. What can we extrapolate from the fact that angels are curious about our salvation?

Topics for 08/11

Please read the passage and be prepared to discuss at least one topic.

1 Peter 1:5-7

 

  • Discuss the relationship between the fact that we are "saved" now, but that our salvation is "ready to be revealed in the last time."
  • We rejoice despite present trials. Verse 6 says "In this you rejoice..." Are we rejoicing because of our salvation, because our salvation will be revealed at a later time, or for some other reason? What is the "this."
  • Why is it that our tested (and proven to be genuine) faith will bring praise. glory, and honor specifically at the revelation of Jesus Christ?

  • Discuss "living hope" both as a concept (what does that mean?) and a purpose.
  • How is Jesus' resurrection the agency of our regeneration (being born again)?
  • Explain one or more of the characteristics of our spiritual inheritance.
