Romans 5:9-10

This is the very heart of the gospel—the good news about Jesus. Jesus fixed our broken relationship with God in two ways: first He lived a perfect life and transferred His righteousness to us. Second, He took our sin on Himself and stood before God and received our punishment for us. For the three hours that Jesus hung on the cross, God poured perfect punishment down on Jesus. Jesus hung there, alone, and absorbed that punishment for you and me.
So, if you have trusted in Jesus for salvation, if you have asked Him for forgiveness, you have been forgiven for your sins, you’ve been given the righteousness of Jesus, and you have been reconciled to God. We were rescued by Jesus’ death and saved by His life.
Romans 5:9-10   Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.  For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.
