The Perfect Mediator
My brain started spinning recently because of a couple of cultural phenomena. It started when the winter Olympics were going on. A big difference between the summer and winter games is the objectivity of the events. It seems to me that most of the events in the winter games are decided by judges. This infuriates me. I am glad that most events discount the highest and lowest judge’s score, but I still feel that subjective sports are inherently inferior. Two years ago when Usain Bolt blasted through the Beijing games, no one questioned who was the fastest man in the world. However, if I trained my entire life as a figure skater, went to the Olympics, and got robbed by a biased judging panel (which if I did not get the gold I would assume were true), I would be incensed.Read more ...
