Resources

Oasis strives to be a source of help and information for anyone who is interested. We have a variety of resources divided into four main categories--theology, reviews, history, and sermons. The Theology folder contains theological studies. The Reviews folder has synopses and evaluations of books and music albums. The History folder contains articles related to Church History. The Sermons folder consists of sermons that are preached in services at Oasis. New articles should arrive periodically.

Study for Small Group 9/26/2010

The following project, taken from the sermon on Sunday, is intended for discussion at our Tuesday night Small Group meeting and for discussion in individual families throughout the week.

This sermon centered on the three truths: God is holy, merciful, and sovereign and our response to these truths being faith and obedience.  Find another passage of Scripture that fits this pattern and also find an example of this in the church and/or our current society.

Questions for Further Study

What is the proper relationship between God’s Word and science?

Is God justified in the judging of sin and sinners in methods like the flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, and the Tribulation?

How does the doctrine of God’s sovereignty in creation change the way we view evangelism and missions?

The following project, taken from the sermon on Sunday, is intended for discussion at our Tuesday night Small Group meeting and for discussion in individual families throughout the week.

Homework: Create a dialogue between you and a friend where you supply both the questions and the answers. The dialogue will begin with your friend asking you the question, “Why do you insist on Jesus being the motivating factor in everything you do?”You will answer the question, and then supply your friend’s follow-up questions. Extend the dialogue five to seven questions and answers.

Small Group Study for 9/12/2010

The following project, taken from the sermon on Sunday, is intended for discussion at our Tuesday night Small Group meeting and for discussion in individual families throughout the week.

This week we looked at a wide array of individuals that were involved in ministry with Paul in various capacities.  During the last part of the sermon, we discussed the unfortunate case study of Demas and his departure from ministry.  This made Paul's admonition to Archippus that much more powerful, "See that you fulfill the ministry that you have received in the Lord."  Find at least one other passage of Scripture that deals with the perseverance of believers in ministry and service for Jesus.  Take note of the responsibility of believers to persevere as well as the work God does that enables our perseverance.

Small Group Discussion for 09/07/2010

The following project, taken from the sermon on Sunday, is intended for discussion at our Tuesday night Small Group meeting and for discussion in individual families throughout the week.

Having studied the necessity of gospel-focused prayer let's make a list of gospel needs (my coworker is an unbeliever, my friend has heard the gospel but rejected it, I have tried to talk to my neighbor but cannot find the courage/opportunity, etc). We will then pray for 30 minutes solely focused on gospel needs (i.e. no health needs, financial concerns, career opportunities...). Do this twice out of three days (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday). We will discuss and spend time in prayer on Tuesday.
